| In an attempt to save you some time planning for that special day, I've answered some very important questions you should consider when selecting a photographer and videographer. |
| |
| | Q: What's your style - artsy, documentary, photojournalistic? |
| | A: If I had to give it a label, I would call it Creative. It's a mix somewhere between photojournalistic, fine art, and feature film. We make every effort to adapt our style to the feel of the wedding, all the while being flexible to our clients' wishes. If you want standard, posed photos to make grandma happy then by all means we'll do that. If you want casual, candid photos then we'll do that too. |
| |
| | Q: Have you done many weddings before? (This clues you in to experience and philosophy) May I view samples of your recent work. |
| | A: Weddings are what I do! I have been doing video editing for over five years, and photography for three years. In January of 2006 I decided to focus on weddings. Sure, I haven't been in this business as long as some, but that hasn't stopped me from making better videos than they do. See for yourself. |
| |
| | Q: Have you won any awards? Are you a member of any national or local photography/videography association? |
| | A: Nope. No awards, trophies, or certificates decorate the walls here at Mud Productions. Then again, we're not very interested in associations or winning contests. Our goal is to capture your wedding and deliver the most enjoyable presentation of it. We have learned that most people aren't concerned with the awards we have won if they don't like our work. Based on what everybody is saying, I think they like our work. |
| |
| | Q: Do I still need a videographer if Mud Productions is photographing my wedding? |
| | A: This question is a personal choice. I initially started as a videographer, but I quickly found that the photomontages were always much more enjoyable than the video itself. After some long, hard thinking I landed here at this marriage of photography and videography. I honestly believe this method captures the best of photography and videography all wrapped into one beautiful package. Be sure to check out the Interactive DVD to give you a better idea of how we merge photo and video. However, if you do decide to hire a videographer, look no further than Mud Productions. We still do videography. ...and yes, we can do photo and video coverage at the same wedding. It just requires a second photographer. |
| |
| | Q: Have you ever shot a wedding at [my ceremony and/or reception site]? If so, can I see the pictures and video? |
| | A: No harm in asking. I would gladly show you my work from your wedding site. |
| |
| | Q: How many other weddings are you doing on [my wedding day]? |
| | A: I only schedule one wedding per day. Your wedding should be on your schedule, not mine. |
| |
| | Q: May I speak to the specific photographer who will be shooting my wedding? |
| | A: You bet! |
| |
| | Q: What type of cameras, tapes, and microphones do you use? |
| | A: For photography, we use Minolta's Maxxum 7D. The camera is equipped with a 6 gigabyte memory card, so there is no reason to worry about running out of room to store pictures. For video, I use two cameras at all times -both set up on tripods. This allows me to essentially be in two places at once. It also gives me much more flexibility when editing. |
| |
| | Q: Speaking of editing, what exactly do you do? How do you do it? What software do you use? |
| | A: The best way to explain how the editing is done is simply to show you. All images are edited in Photoshop, and video is edited in Adobe Premiere and After Effects. |
| |
| | Q: In what format do you deliver the pictures? What is the resolution? |
| | A: All images are delivered in digital format (on disc). Each image is delivered in color as well as black & white. Additionally, there is a full resolution copy of each image, as well as an email-friendly version. The full resolution files are 3000 X 2008 pixels. In other words you can print the pictures up to 24" X 36" without losing quality. |
| |
| | Q: Do you deliver prints or albums? |
| | A: The short answer is no, we do not deliver prints. However, we deliver full the full resolution images, and we grant your the rights to reproduce the images for private use. This means you don't have to go through us each time you want to get your pictures printed. You can take the files and get them printed or made into albums wherever you choose. You see, I'm a photographer. My job is to take pictures, and I strive to do it well. I don't have experience developing prints or arranging albums, but other companies specialize in those services. As I see it, if I do what I do best (i.e. take pictures) and another company does what they do best (i.e. making prints and albums) then you will get exactly what you want in the end. |
| |
| | Q: What's the advantage of having a second photographer? |
| | A: Well, I can only be in one place at a time, but if there is a second photographer, he or she can get the shots that I'm not in position for. Additionally, one photographer can be with the bride while the other photographer is with the groom. If we are doing videography for your wedding, then having a second photographer insures that every moment will be captured in still photos which allows me to make sure it is captured well on video too. |
