FOCUS: I call this my "accidental short" because I did not intend to make
an animated short when I began the project; I was simply practicing animation walk cycles. Ken Harris said, "A walk
is the first thing to learn. Learn walks of all kinds, 'cause walks are about the toughest thing to do right." After
I created roughly 4 walk cycles, it occured to me that with only a little extra effort I could make a short out of these
excercises.
LESSONS LEARNED: Since the goal was simply character animation, I didn't bother modeling
a realistic humanoid character. By using a crude figure, I had to make him speak entirely through his body language,
similar to mime and theater. While working on a project like this, you realize how the subtle nuances can make all
the difference between realistic and robotic animation.

Bee Gees song he's dancing to? Click here for the answer. |
